DJL Building & Maintenance

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

DJL Building & Maintenance respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we may collect when you visit our website, contact us or request a quote, why we collect it, how it may be used and stored, and how you can contact us about your information.

1. Personal information we collect

The personal information we collect depends on how you interact with us.

When you submit a Request a Quote or contact form through our website, we may collect:

  • your name;
  • phone number;
  • email address;
  • suburb, if provided;
  • the type of building or carpentry service you are enquiring about;
  • information you provide about your proposed job or project; and
  • project or site photos you voluntarily upload to help us assess your enquiry;
  • any other information you choose to provide when communicating with us.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information in an online enquiry unless it is necessary for us to assist you.

2. Why we collect your information

We may collect and use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and quote requests;
  • contact you about a proposed or current project;
  • prepare and manage quotes;
  • provide our building, carpentry, maintenance and related services;
  • maintain appropriate business and project records;
  • prevent spam, fraud and misuse of our website;
  • operate and maintain our website; and
  • comply with applicable legal, regulatory, insurance and record-keeping obligations.

We do not currently use information submitted through our website for automated marketing or targeted advertising.

3. How information is collected and stored

Personal information is primarily collected directly from you when you contact us, submit an online form, speak with us, email us or otherwise provide information in connection with an enquiry or project.

When a Request a Quote form is submitted through our website, the information is stored within our website's secure database and a notification containing the enquiry information is sent to our business email account.

Optional site photos are stored privately and linked to your enquiry. Photos are processed in your browser for reliable viewing and to remove embedded location metadata. Our email notification includes private access links rather than photo attachments. These links expire after 30 days and should only be shared with people authorised to assist with your enquiry. Anyone given a private link can access that photo until the link expires. Avoid uploading photos showing sensitive information or people without their permission. Unsubmitted uploads expire after 24 hours and are removed during subsequent upload maintenance; submitted photos follow the retention and deletion practices described below.

Access to personal information is limited to people and service providers who require it for legitimate business or technical purposes.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

4. Website information, cookies and security

Our website uses a small number of technical cookies necessary for the website to operate correctly and securely.

These may include cookies used by our website hosting and content-delivery providers for purposes such as security, bot and abuse protection, and ensuring visitors receive the correct version of the website.

We do not currently use cookies for advertising, remarketing or behavioural profiling, and our website does not currently use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Google Ads conversion tracking, Microsoft Clarity or Hotjar.

Our hosting and content-delivery infrastructure may automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information and pages requested as part of standard server logging, website delivery and security.

When a quote request is submitted, technical information associated with the request may also be used to detect spam or repeated submissions. Where an IP address is used for this purpose, it is converted into an irreversible hashed value rather than being stored in raw form.

5. Third-party service providers

Our website relies on third-party technology providers to operate.

This currently includes website hosting, private photo storage, cloud database and email-delivery services. Information submitted through our website may therefore be processed by service providers where necessary to operate the website, securely store an enquiry or deliver the enquiry to DJL Building & Maintenance.

We aim to use third-party providers only where reasonably necessary for the operation of our website and business.

6. Disclosure of personal information

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:

  • service providers who assist us with website hosting, cloud storage, email or other business systems;
  • tradespeople, subcontractors, suppliers or professional advisers where necessary in connection with an enquiry or project;
  • insurers, regulators or government authorities where required or authorised by law; or
  • another person or organisation where you have authorised us to do so.

We only disclose information where reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

7. Retention of personal information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably required for the purposes for which it was collected, including responding to enquiries, quoting, project administration, maintaining appropriate business records and meeting applicable legal, insurance, taxation or regulatory requirements.

When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we will take reasonable steps to delete, destroy or de-identify it where appropriate.

8. Accessing or correcting your information

You may contact us if you would like to request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that you believe is inaccurate or out of date.

We may need to verify your identity before providing access to personal information.

If information can no longer reasonably be retained and there is no legal or business requirement for us to keep it, you may also contact us to request its deletion.

9. Links to other websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services, including our social media pages.

Those websites operate independently of DJL Building & Maintenance and may have their own privacy policies and information-handling practices. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites.

10. Privacy enquiries and complaints

If you have a question or concern about how we handle personal information, please contact us.
